Our extraordinary story
A meeting on African soil
Over 20 years ago, the founder of Omoyé, on a mission in southern Africa, was shipwrecked on the shores of Mozambique. Rescued by a local tribe, he was treated by the shaman with decoctions of medicinal plants and a poultice applied to his wounds. Day by day, his health improved, and a deep friendship developed between him and the shaman.
Accompanied by Omoyé, the shaman's daughter, he followed him on his foraging expeditions, learning to listen to nature and master the ancestral knowledge of plants: how to recognize them, use them, and combine them. The shaman created for him a giant herbarium containing the main plants with magical properties, a unique ancestral botanical secret that is the origin of all the Omoyé formulas that make up Plant Magic today.
Omoyé Plant Magic
Back in France, the founder of Omoyé, taken in and cared for by the shaman, had this famous poultice analyzed, the one that had repaired his wounds, helped them heal, soothed his sunburns in Africa and regenerated his skin as if by magic! From these plants and plant extracts that had healed him, he created "The Magic Balm".
Wanting to share the chance he had to meet the shaman and the tribe and to discover the power of African plants, he decided to create a small line of natural care products from this product, which he named Omoyé, in homage to this encounter and to the magical powers of trees, demigods in Africa, because Omoyé also means “with the gods” in Swahili.
The principle of formulation of the Magic Balm, composed of two complexes of active plant ingredients from Africa as well as the power of the baobab fruit, called Plant Magic , is part of all our formulations.
A commitment to Africa
Omoyé is also committed to Africa through the action of the FDB (biodiversity fund) and participates in the planting of Baobabs by a women's association in the Ferlo desert in Senegal to fight against desertification. The emblematic tree of Omoyé, the baobab, nicknamed "the pharmacist's tree", is a true wonder of nature, with a vital role in the local ecosystem (a baobab supports x people in a village) and exceptional virtues for health.
